The idea

Turku is Finland's oldest city and the gateway to the south-west archipelago. The river, the castle and the market hall are all within walking distance of the hotels.

From Turku the islands run out towards the Baltic. The programme moves by road ferry and private boat, with one night in Nauvo and one in the outer archipelago.

Day 1

Arrival, Turku

Transfer from the airport or by train from Helsinki. Walk along the Aura river past the cathedral, dinner on board a restaurant ship.

Day 2

The old capital

Morning at the market hall and the Old Great Square, private visit to Turku Castle, afternoon free. Dinner on a riverside terrace.

Day 3

Into the islands

By coach and road ferry across the inner archipelago to Nauvo. Lunch in the guest harbour, afternoon by boat through the skerries, dinner at the marina.

Day 4

Utö, the outer archipelago

Boat to Utö, the lighthouse island on the edge of the open sea. Walk among the rocks, sauna and swim, dinner and the night on the island.

Day 5

Return

Boat and coach back to Turku, lunch by the river and transfers timed to the group's flights or trains.
