The challenge
A summer reward week that has to feel exclusive twenty minutes from a capital city, with weather that cannot be ordered in advance.
What we did
Private boats instead of coaches, islands instead of ballrooms, and an indoor alternative held for every marine module.
The outcome
Four days without a single coach transfer, dinner served at ten with the sun still on the water, and no module cancelled for wind.
The idea
In summer the sea is warm enough for swimming, the light lasts all night, and the archipelago starts 20 minutes from the city centre.
The programme stays on the water: private wooden boats instead of coaches, islands instead of ballrooms.

Day 1
Arrival by sea
Private wooden boats from Market Square to Suomenlinna through the King's Gate. Welcome dinner in a casemate courtyard.

Day 2
Island day
RIB run through the outer skerries, swimming from granite, and a long lunch cooked over fire on a private island.

Day 3
Sea saunas and midnight sun dinner
Afternoon in the sea saunas, cold dips between rounds. Dinner served at ten, dessert at midnight, sun still on the water.

Day 4
Slow departure
Breakfast on the terrace, market hall walk, transfers timed to the group's flights.

The module set
What the days are built from.
Each module runs in waves so the group never queues. Swap any of them for another in the same slot.

Wooden boat crossing
Market Square to Suomenlinna, 20 minutes

RIB run
Outer skerries, 45 minutes, life jackets provided

Island fire lunch
Cooked on site, granite tables, swimming between courses

Sea sauna
Private, ladder into the Baltic, bar service

Midnight sun dinner
Served at 22:00, dessert at midnight

Lighthouse island
Optional overnight extension in the outer archipelago
How it runs
The operational detail behind the week.
On the water
- Four private wooden boats, 15 guests each, crewed and licensed.
- Boarding from Market Square, three minutes' walk from the hotel.
- Boats held for the full programme, not shared with other groups.
Weather
- Wind above 12 m/s moves the RIB run to a sheltered inner route.
- Indoor alternative confirmed and paid for on every marine module.
- Decision point 16 hours ahead, communicated to the client contact directly.
Comfort
- Rain shells and blankets carried on every boat.
- Toilets and changing rooms checked on each island before use.
- Guests with limited mobility board from the pier by ramp, not ladder.
Worth knowing
- Midnight sun works from late May to late July. In August the light drops fast.
- The archipelago has few venues over 60 guests. Larger groups split across two islands.
- Midsummer week closes most restaurants and doubles boat rates. We avoid it.
How it flexes
Same shape, other briefs.
Turku archipelago
Same shape from Turku with Nauvo and Utö, better for groups over 60.
Two nights
Drop the island day and keep the sea sauna dinner as the single set piece.
Åland extension
Add two nights in the Åland skerries by ferry and private coach.
